Dr Peter Pain
Chiropractor Doctor
Dr Peter Pain has focused on health, exercise and fitness from an early age.
He completed his undergraduate studies at Queen’s University with an Honors BSc. in Life Sciences, and his Chiropractic Doctorate at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1997.
In 1989-1992, Dr. Pain was a member of the Queen’s Golden Gaels Football team, winning the National Championship Vanier Cup in 1992. The rigors of playing and competing in football also led Dr. Pain to chiropractic.
Dr. Pain worked as a certified Personal trainer with The Sports Clubs of Canada in Toronto for 4 years while attending the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He has continued to expand and maintain his expertise in sports injuries, exercise and fitness over the years with many courses. This includes meeting and learning from the world’s most highly regarded experts, including courses taught by Paul Chek, Paul Gagne, Stu McGill, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tudor Bhompa and many others inside the world of sports injuries and fitness.
This education and experience has given Dr. Pain the honour of being able to work with many athletes at all levels, including professional football and hockey players, Olympic athletes, provincial and national amateur athletes as well as the Weekend Warrior.
Dr Pain discovered Crossfit in 2012, which has since fueled his passion for functional training at a high intensity! Not only does he compete, trying to keep pace with the young guns, but he also coaches and teaches classes at Limestone Athletics, his brother Bob Pain’s gym, where he keeps an eye on technique while encouraging proper movement.
When not staying active himself, Dr. Pain is fortunate to coach and chauffeur his 3 kids in all of their active pursuits.
One thing is certain, Dr. Pain loves helping people improve themselves and reach their upper limits in sport, health and life!

Dr. Laura Gifford
Chiropractor Doctor
Following a long passion for health, Dr. Laura Gifford graduated from Queen’s University in 1994 with a honors degrees in Biology and Physical Education, and graduated with clinical honors from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1998.
She was a nationally ranked skier and competed internationally for seven years as a member of the Ontario Alpine Ski Team.
Dr. Gifford has always been passionate about living a healthy lifestyle.
She follows a primal diet, enjoys barefoot running, Primal Fitness, x-country skiing, tennis, soccer and spending time with her husband Dr. Peter Pain, their 3 children and their dog. The whole family is passionate about holistic health and natural wellness.
Constantly striving to give her patients the best care available, Dr. Gifford has done post-graduate work in nutrition, neurology, prenatal and pediatric care, functional fitness, wellness care, and is a C.H.E.K certified Nutrition & Lifestyle practitioner. Dr Gifford is an expert on using new “gentle” chiropractic techniques.
Dr. Gifford practised in England in Burton on Trent before establishing the Amherstview Family Chiropractic Centre in 1999. She has since opened Kingston’s Live Well Centre were she practices with her husband Dr. Peter Pain – Both working as chiropractors, spreading the benefits of a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Jennifer Kates
Physiotherapist
Jenn completed both her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, as well as her Master of Science in Physical Therapy at Queen’s University. She emphasizes a hands-on approach, focusing treatment principles on manual therapy and developing fundamental movement patterns aimed at injury rehabilitation and prevention.
Outside of work, Jenn enjoys living a healthy and active lifestyle through sport and exercise; including hockey, golf, ultimate frisbee and cycling. Jenn competed on the Queen’s Varsity Golf team for 5 years, winning a team Bronze medal and qualifying to compete in the National Championship. She currently competes in Ultimate Frisbee tournaments across the province.
Jenn is always expanding upon her knowledge and skills. She has post graduate training in Soft Tissue Techniques, Functional Dry Needling, Acupuncture, and has acquired extensive training in Manual Therapy through the Canadian Physiotherapy Orthopaedic Division. She is an Academic Assistant and Clinical Instructor with the Rehabilitation program at Queen’s University.
Jenn believes that everyone has the capacity to optimize their physical function and is truly passionate about her role as a Physiotherapist.

Jordyn Black
Front Desk Admin
Jordyn grew up in Kingston, Ontario and attended Loyalist College to study Social and Developmental Services while on a scholarship for Volleyball. Her work interests have changed over the years allowing her to explore and gain experience in many different fields. Jordyn has been part of our administrative team since 2010 and helps to keep the clinic running smoothly and efficiently with her bubbly personality and her multi-tasking ninja skills.
In her life outside of the clinic, an artist from the first time her fingers met a crayon, she has spent her adult years honing her skills which led her to start her own small business called ‘the junkyard’. You will see her artwork, furniture creations and woodworking pieces throughout the office as well as at other various shops and shows around Kingston.
In her spare time Jordyn enjoys traveling, playing volleyball, cuddling with her rescue bunny Pebbles and cooking all the yummy veggie food she can.

Hilary Moon

Hilary is a lifelong Kingstonian with an eclectic education and work history. Right out of high school she took the Correctional Worker program in college and worked in the law and security field for well over a decade.
In 2016 she was ready for a dramatic change. Leaving her career behind, she returned to school in the Fitness and Health Promotion program at St. Lawrence College. After graduating, she happily joined the Faculty team and has been a part time Professor ever since.
Working at The Live Well Centre allows Hilary to pair her love of health and wellness with her administrative skills; it’s a perfect fit!
