This weekend we held our first Mobility Workshop at The Live Well Centre!
The workshop went off with great success, and left all of our attendees feeling 10 years younger and very supple. Most importantly, they went home with a wealth of knowledge on ways to practice mobility everyday, specially focusing on their particular areas of concern, whether that be their hips, shoulders, thoracic spine or more.
Throughout the workshop, we stressed the importance of why everyone needs to work on mobility. A common mistake that many make is assuming mobility and flexibility are the same. We are here to spread that word that they are not!
Stretching concerns the lengthening of short, tight muscles to improve flexibility. In comparison, mobility is a full body, movement-based approach that addresses the elements that limit movement; such as joint restriction, joint range of motion, soft tissue restriction, tight muscles and so on.
Mobility exercises are beneficial to everyone! Whether you are: in pain; work at a desk; are a long distance runner; or of the older population; mobility can help.
