We attended a great nutrition seminar by Balanced Bites recently, at the Crossfit Rochester gym (fantastic gym by the way). Here Liz Wolfe, Paleo author and nutritionist, gives a great summary of how we should approach our food for health.
Seek real, nutrient-filled food, as close to its natural state as possible: whole, unprocessed, unmodified, and unrefined.
Pretend the modern supermarket doesn’t exist. Choose foods that could be hunted or gathered – FOODS, like meats, vegetables, and healthy fats; not factory-made, multi-ingredient PRODUCTS.
Support local, responsible produces.
Eat animals, seafood, vegetables, nuts and fruits. Eat fats from pasture-raised animals, seafood, coconut, avocado, olives, and cold-pressed oils.
Incorporate traditional super-foods: fermented vegetables and beverages, homemade bone broth, and organ meats.
Above all, ditch obsessive behaviour and “diets.” Question conventional wisdom.
Fuel with Real Food.
Great words to live by. As the saying goes, let food be thy medicine!
